Electrical maintenance (P3) on the passenger train K3 0 0907 SDT is an essential activity to ensure operational reliability, safety, and passenger comfort, particularly in the lighting system, air conditioning, electrical panels, and safety devices. General Background Common problems include decreased AC performance, lighting disturbances, voltage instability, and the risk of short circuits caused by worn components, loose installations, and insufficient periodic maintenance. Specific Background The methods used include direct field observation, inspection of electrical components such as MCBs, lighting installations, power outlets, and AC systems, as well as measurement of current and voltage and documentation of maintenance results. Knowledge Gap Previous literature lacks detailed empirical evaluations regarding the specific electrical degradation patterns and multi-tier corrective actions for older class-3 passenger carriage depots. Aims This study aims to identify the electrical maintenance procedures applied and to evaluate their effectiveness in improving the reliability of the electrical system and passenger safety. Results The results show that scheduled electrical maintenance is able to maintain the stability of the electrical system, improve AC and lighting performance, and reduce the potential for failures and safety risks. Novelty This work establishes a structured three-tier fault classification and preventive maintenance framework for passenger train electrical systems at the Sidotopo Train Depot. Implications Routine and properly implemented electrical maintenance is effective in enhancing operational reliability, extending the service life of electrical components, and ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
Key Findings Highlights
- Scheduled electrical maintenance successfully preserves system stability and optimizes air conditioning performance across passenger carriages.
- Systematic component inspections identify and mitigate potential short-circuit risks originating from worn wiring and loose terminal connections.
- Structured categorization of light, moderate, and severe damages enables targeted technical solutions to minimize operational downtime.
