Abstract

General Background Industrial warehouse operations are critical for ensuring the continuous availability of materials required for uninterrupted production and project implementation. Specific Background In industrial cooling system installations, delays in dispatching materials from the warehouse directly disrupt strict project schedules and significantly increase operational waiting times. Knowledge Gap Although delivery delays are often recorded, the specific systemic factors such as discrepancies between physical stock and digital records are rarely isolated and translated into actionable, standardized operating procedures within active refrigeration manufacturing environments. Aims This study investigates the root causes of material dispatch delays and formulates structured corrective actions utilizing the Fishbone Diagram and 5W1H methodologies. Results Observational data from 360 dispatch activities revealed a 16.67 percent delay rate, encompassing 60 late deliveries. The analysis identified mismatched stock data as the primary failure, accounting for 30 percent of the delays, followed by material location difficulties at 25 percent, and the absence of dispatch checklists at 18.33 percent. Utilizing the 5W1H framework, corrective actions were formulated, specifically mandating weekly stock opname protocols, the implementation of standardized dispatch checklists, and systematic storage location labeling. Novelty This research directly correlates specific warehouse layout and documentation failures to exact delivery delay frequencies within the specialized industrial refrigeration sector. Implications Implementing mandated weekly inventory reconciliations and strict dispatch checklists eliminates data mismatches, significantly reducing material delivery delays and ensuring continuous production schedules.

Highlights:

  • Evaluating 360 material dispatch activities revealed 60 delays, representing a 16.67 percent failure rate in warehouse operations.

  • Mismatched stock data caused 30 percent of delivery delays, while material location difficulties accounted for 25 percent.

  • Mandating weekly stock opname protocols and standardized dispatch checklists strictly eliminates data mismatches and reduces delivery delays.
