The rapid expansion of the construction industry drives high demand for precast concrete elements such as spun piles. General Background Precast manufacturing relies heavily on mechanical equipment, particularly mold transport trolleys that operate continuously under heavy loads in dusty environments. Specific Background Bearings within these transport trolleys frequently experience premature wear, increased friction, and structural vibration due to harsh operating conditions and inadequate lubricant retention. Knowledge Gap Existing literature lacks detailed practical insights into the systematic field maintenance and direct component replacement strategies required for specialized industrial transport systems. Aims This study aims to examine the functional role of trolley bearings, identify primary failure factors, and detail the step-by-step repair procedure during an industrial internship. Results Field practices successfully restored trolley performance through systematic inspection, bearing extraction, housing cleaning, new component installation, and proper lubrication, which collectively eliminated abnormal friction and stabilized movement. Novelty This work provides a structured framework combining direct hands-on internship methodology with preventive mechanical maintenance protocols for precast transport trolleys. Implications Implementing structured maintenance routines significantly minimizes production downtime, extends mechanical lifespan, and bridges academic learning with real-world industrial demands.
Key Findings Highlights
-
Systematic field inspection successfully identifies severe bearing wear, abnormal friction sounds, and structural vibration on precast transport trolleys.
-
Structured mechanical replacement procedures, including housing cleaning and precise bearing installation, effectively restore smooth trolley mobility.
-
Routine preventive maintenance and proper grease lubrication minimize operational downtime and extend the service life of heavy-duty industrial components.
