Ceiling renovation is an important effort to improve the safety and comfort of educational buildings, especially in public elementary schools. General Background This internship activity was carried out at a public elementary school in Sidoarjo Regency where several classroom ceilings were found to be damaged due to aging materials and moisture. Specific Background The method used in this activity included field observation, measurement of ceiling areas, dismantling of damaged ceilings, installation of new ceiling frames and panels, and finishing works. Knowledge Gap Previous literature lacks detailed empirical evaluations regarding the integration of modular PVC ceiling replacements and construction safety management in regional school building renovations. Aims This research seeks to assess how ceiling renovation is implemented regarding material replacement, structural work stages, and comfort improvement. Results The results of the internship show that proper ceiling renovation can significantly enhance classroom safety, lighting quality, and overall learning comfort. Novelty This work establishes a practical field assessment of replacing damaged gypsum with moisture-resistant PVC ceiling systems under small-scale construction management frameworks. Implications Implementing structured ceiling renovations successfully eliminates safety hazards and optimizes the visual learning environment for educational infrastructure.
Key Findings Highlights
-
Replacing damaged gypsum ceilings with moisture-resistant PVC panels eliminates structural collapse hazards in primary school classrooms.
-
Systematic framework installation and ceiling alignment significantly improve interior lighting distribution and visual comfort for students.
-
Field observation confirms that structured project management and safety compliance streamline small-scale school renovation workflows.
